On behalf of the Recreation Therapy (RT) Section of California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS), I would like to welcome and thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about licensure for Recreation Therapists in the State of California. For more than two years, the Licensure Task Force, an ad hoc committee of the CPRS RT Section, has been active in gathering data, soliciting input, researching the legislative process, and determining need. Their findings are available for you here. I invite you to review the information provided and learn what role you can play. The Task Force is excited to hear from you!
If you are not currently a member of CPRS and the RT Section, I invite you to join. People often ask me to explain how their CPRS membership benefits them. Well here it is. CPRS provides us with the services of their lobbyist to move the licensure legislation forward. Without this support, we would not have the infrastructure to get started. Licensure will require financial resources and we will need the support of all RTs to make it happen, so please join today! Visit us on Facebook, too!
